JAWC Volume 2 : It's Friday the Thirteenth... Again? I've read a lot of manga and I've watched a lot of anime... and on very few occasions have I seen hairstyles that no one had in real life originally... I look at the style of hair in general, and then I see how manga and anime is drawn, and a few anime/manga bother to come up with crazy hairstyles that no one would have in real life... but here's the point of this commentary... PEOPLE DO NOT STYLE THEIR HAIR AFTER MANGA/ANIME CHARACTERS IN REAL LIFE! I mean that, unless it's for a cosplay, odds are that almost all hairstyles in anime/manga have been created in real life first... certain exceptions occur in the drawn realm, but those hairstyles aren't emulated by anyone unless, again, it's for cosplay... I've never seen someone say to themselves that Dragon Ball Z was so cool that they want to style their hair like Gokou or felt the need to dye their hair blue cause bulma's hair was such... you'd have to be some crazy ass otaku with absolutely no life to do something that stupid. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of anime/manga where the hairstyles are so outlandish that they weren't created in real life first... and I can't think of any... I mean, I just can't think of any style that emulates anime/manga... it's always real life first, and then translated into something on page... but instead I have to deal with a crazy bitch that thinks that people are styling their hair after anime... JUST CAUSE THEY'RE JAPANESE DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY ARE EMULATING ANIME... I find it offensive as an avid manga reader that this thinking is actually happening and with someone I know... and that crazy bitch is so set in her belief that hairstyles are from anime and influences people to cut their hair that way... as though hairstyles aren't conceptualized outside of anime/manga... I mean, before there was anime/manga there was hair, and that hair had to be styled... so what did they do?... just leave it alone?... apparently japanese people didn't bother to fix their hair until the advent of the manga...
