JAWC Volume 2 : My AnthroCon Report... An Essay in whatever... I don't know what to say about AC this year... it was fruitful and dissappointing all at the same time, being with the people I knew was awesome but I feel like I didn't get to hang out with them as much this year and that sucked... cause I really wanted to spend more time with them... Dealers Room was okay, small snafu during the setup but nothing horrible, the dealers portion of the con went allright, but at the same time I didn't do many sketchbooks, usually I'm hit up for porn all day, but this time around nothing, maybe 10 sketchbooks over the three days at most... which really seemed odd... anyhow, sold some CD's and learned more about what I should be doing for next year... but I'll worry about whether or not I should go sometime after my birthday in October... Regardless of Dealers Room shenanigans, I did have fun with peeps when I could see them... some memorable moments were the 16 inch subs at this place on 6th which only cost 10 Dollars, and it was such a good freakin sub... I mean it wasn't your subway or quiznos crap, this thing was chock full of awesome, then again it was an italian place, so it wasn't a cold cut sub, it was a meaty and delicious sub... so tasty... so damn tasty... Then there was the damn fine Carrot Cake at August Henry's ... seriously that was some damn fine carrot cake... so delicious... D-LISH-SHUS!!!, then again I am a man who loves his sweets... damn my lust for sweets, I fear it may actually kill me one day... And of course the wonderful Sushi Kim, which had a really great Teriyaki Chicken, but I tried a vegetable roll there and well, I found out that my body rejects any type of sushi... cause I had it in my mouth for all of a minute tops, and well, out it went right after a sickening sensation ran through my mouth... it was awful, but at least I gave it a shot, can't say I don't like it if I never tried it... Food Aside, The zoo was overcrowded and they expanded it again this year... not enough tables and too many people... just way too many... got to hang out with a lot of cool peeps though... and it got me wondering... how did I ever get to know such awesome people?... seriously... I'm that guy that doesn't belong in the group, but for some reason is found there anyway... I don't get it, but I'm fortunate to know these guys, they're all fun and cool people... I'm not gonna mention names, cause I'm sure I'd forget a couple if I made a list... Cool things to happen this time around was that I got to meet Miu from Club Stripes, and that was pretty awesome, he said my art was cute... so I hope he meant it in a good way and not in the kind of way to placate a person... cause that would crush me... -_-;;, also it was fun to hang out with some of the club stripes peeps at a comic shop on Monday... really awesome shop too... I gots me the first six issues of "The Maxx" which was pretty damn sweet... Another cool thing was hanging out with Fossil while he tattooed a suicide girl, huge transformers logo on her chest... it came out freaking awesome, seriously I'm opposed to getting tattoos, but if I ever wanted to get one, I'd go to Fossil to get it done... he's chill, he's cool, and he's a dedicated professional... and after seeing his work, why would I go to anyone else?... Anyway, after the con was over, I went back home, bought a couple of lottery tickets and then hit the hay for a while... it's been a week now, and looking back on it I had a really good time... I just wish I had known what a great time I was having while I was there and didn't have to come back to my home sweet hell to notice it... go fig right?... The Hiatus ends alongside July, so updates come back into swing on August 3rd... see ya then and have a good time... Welcome To It... - Tiki Man |
